OKC, Tulsa Ranked in Money’s Top 50 Places to the Live in the U.S.

In Money’s annual Best Places to Live list, Oklahoma City and Tulsa took the ranks in the top 50 cities.

The rankings were vetted against the health of the local job market, average housing costs, the percentage of residents living in poverty, and the quality of public schools. Money states the list spotlights “places built around thoughtful policy, civic engagement and community spirit.”

Tulsa’s soaring economy, remote-friendly atmosphere, and affordable housing market clinched its spot on the list. In Oklahoma City, the “cultural powerhouse” made the list for its diverse population, highly-rated schools, and flowing pipeline of redevelopment projects redevelopment.

  • New Boomtown: Tulsa received nods for its rapidly growing tech space, which was designated a “tech hub” by the federal government in October 2023.
  • Culture Hub: Oklahoma City’s quilt of museums, festivals, and cultural experiences received applause, including the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Chihuly glass collection and the annual Red Earth Festival celebrating Oklahoma’s Native American heritage.
