From the pastures of western Oklahoma, Gatlin Didier is making his own little slice of Hollywood.
Meet Gatlin Didier, actor, producer, and farm-boy content creator. Growing up in smalltown Oklahoma, he always dreamed of Hollywood lights. After college, Gatlin moved to Los Angeles — and found out that dream might actually be back home on the farm. Now, he’s one of the most popular influencers in the agriculture space, racking up over 2.6 million followers across TikTok and Instagram. All while helping expand his family’s five-generation farm into a direct-to-consumer beef ranch. In this episode of Flyover Stories, Gatlin lays out why living in Oklahoma is the only way he could have ended up in his boots.
Well, I was born and raised in a small town in western Oklahoma called Thomas. I played sports. Did FFA. Showed pigs. I was in the show choir. I was just always inspired to be creative and tell stories.
I went out to California, and I pursued acting at a professional level. I guess the clash I had was I didn’t ever really relate to or fit in with California’s way of life because that’s not who I was.
I would come home to Oklahoma from California, and make videos for the internet. All this started slowly morphing into what became my content-creating social media influencing career. Coming back from that point, I think I finally realized, “If I’m going to be the farm boy on the internet, I’ve got to be back at the farm.”
What I love about my situation is that I get the best of both worlds. When you look at housing rates in California, and then look at Oklahoma. It’s like day and night for what you can get the best bang for your buck. I mean, who doesn’t want a little bit of land? You realize when you come to Oklahoma, that’s a very obtainable dream.
People literally just think this is a wasteland; they think that there’s not much going on here. We have the white tail deer. There’s coyotes running around, there are wild hogs, and there are armadillos. My little girl is like, “What’s that?” and I’m like, “The armadillo!”
Allowing kids to have that access early, instead of just being able to go to a zoo, I think it gives you another connection to the land that you wouldn’t get if you lived in a concrete jungle. And I didn’t really get to appreciate that until I left and came back.
It’s the land of opportunity. You’re looking at a guy who could be an actor, and he also grew up farming, ranching. And now I’m back doing all those things in one.
Like, what other world could that have happened if it wasn’t for Oklahoma?
My name is Gatlin Didier. I’m a rancher, producer, content creator, and I live my flyover life in Oklahoma.
