Oklahoma Ranks in Top 10 States for New Residents

As Americans seek affordability, opportunity, and better quality of life, Oklahoma continues to stand out as a prime destination. Recently, the state ranked in the New York Times’ list of the top 10 states for net migration.

The list, compiled from 2023 U.S. Census Bureau data, shows Oklahoma ended the year in the 10th highest spot, with a net migration of 25,058. Net migration is determined by subtracting the total number of departures from the total number of new residents.

  • Headed South: Over 7 million Americans moved to different state last year, and of the top 10 states in the list, eight are located in the south — including increasingly popular Oklahoma.
  • More For Your Move: With low cost of living, ample job opportunities, and affordable real estate, Oklahoma offers all of the benefits of popular states, without the overcrowding and high prices of states like Texas, Florida, and Georgia.
