Oklahoma Jumps 30 Spots in U-Haul’s Annual Moving List

Oklahoma jumped 30 spots to number 11 in U-Haul’s Growth States list of 2024, marking the biggest rise year-over-year of any other state.

The surge highlights a growing trend of people moving to Oklahoma in search of better opportunities and a more affordable lifestyle.

The annual list tracks each state’s net gain or loss of customers using one-way U-Haul equipment to move in a calendar year. As more families consider factors like cost of living, job availability, and quality of life, many are deciding that moving to Oklahoma is the right choice for them.

“Migration to the Southeast and Southwest continues as families gauge their cost of living, job opportunities, quality of life and other factors that go into relocating to a new state,” said John “J.T.” Taylor, president of U-Haul International. This aligns with Oklahoma’s rise in popularity, further emphasizing the appeal of moving to Oklahoma.

For the fifth straight year, California ranked 50th with the greatest net loss of residents.
