Two of America’s Easiest Cities to Find a Job Are in Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s two largest cities take up two of the top five spots for large cities with the lowest unemployment rates, according to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

As of August 2025 data, the Oklahoma City area reported a 3.3% unemployment rate and the Tulsa area posted 3.4% — both ranking among the lowest in the nation. Unlike many states, Oklahoma’s job market is growing, especially in industries like aerospace, manufacturing, tech, and bioscience.

What does that mean in real life? Less idle time between gigs, fewer stalled job searches, and a stronger chance your next move is upward. Plus, as one of the most affordable places to live in the U.S., your hard earned salary stretches significantly further. A real win-win.

Those low unemployment rates also have a ripple effect on the quality of neighborhoods and towns. More employed residents equals more open businesses, better funded schools, healthier housing markets, and measurably less crime. For anyone comparing the Oklahoma housing market or running a salary comparison, the state just adds up. If work is part of your location decision — and let’s be honest, it always is — Oklahoma’s low unemployment numbers give you one more reason to include it on your list.
